How NeuroMed Helps Patients
If you’ve undergone physical therapy, you may be familiar with TENS (Transcutaneous Electric Nerve Stimulation), which uses low-voltage electrical pulses to reduce pain through electrodes placed on the skin. TENS units typically deliver 1 to 250 pulses per second with a dosage of around 25 Ma.
Electroanalgesic treatments, similar in concept to TENS, use much higher electrical energy—8,300 to 10,000 pulses per second—and a higher dosage of up to 100 Ma. This allows the energy to penetrate deeper into the tissue by reducing skin resistance, effectively blocking pain signals.
Unlike TENS, which stimulates nerves, Electroanalgesia works by reducing the ability of affected nerves to transmit pain signals while promoting healing at the same time. It’s like a nerve block but uses electrical energy instead of an injection, such as an epidural. With the right dosage and electrodes, Electroanalgesia can safely and effectively reduce pain intensity, helping patients achieve a better quality of life.
